Default Canon G5 or S50

HI! I'm new to this site and i think the help everyone's giving each other is very awesome.
I have been searching for a digital camera for a while now and i've narrowed down my search to these models:

sony dsc p10: I LOVE the size of this camera. But i'm a little concerned about the picture quality.

canon G5: I've actually used this camera. It takes such great pictures. But it seemed a little too professional for someone like me.

Canon S500: I just loved this camera form the moment i saw it at Best Buy. I dont know much about it though, other than it's extremly small size.

Canon S50: This camera is great in size and picture quality. The only thing that concers me is the lens cover that is used to turn the camera on and off. Is it possible for it to come off?

If anyone here can give me some advice on which is better it would be a lot of help to me!

Depends on what you're after - the P10 and S500 are mainly point & shoot cameras, G5 and S50 offer more manual functions for choosing aperture, shutter etc.

Assuming you're deciding between G5 & S50, these two are not really in the same class - the G5 has much better specs and more expandability options.

Everyone agrees that the S50 cover feels flimsy.
Who knows when it will break.

I'd go with the G5 if only for the hot shoe. Put on a 420EX flash and you'll get great indoor shots.
