Default Photoshop CS !!! WHY????

Does anyone know why You can't upgrade to photoshop CS if you are using windows 98SE?
I Have photoshop 7 but it does not support the RAW files from My Nikon 8700.
Anyone have an answer?

Well, I can only say that I looked at the requirements on Adobe's web page and it says:
Intel® Pentium® III or 4 processor
Microsoft® Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 3 or Windows XP
192MB of RAM (256MB recommended)
280MB of available hard-disk space
Color monitor with 16-bit color or greater video card
1,024x768 or greater monitor resolution
CD-ROM drive
Internet or phone connection required for product activation

So right there, it says that even ME is not supported.
Will it work? I don't know, but I bet you wouldn't get support for it.

I had thought about upgrading to Photoshop CS and downloaded the trial version, but the installer detects your windows version and if you are not running XP or Win2000 it won’t install.
Since I have no desire to pay Mr. Gates any more to upgrade my systems from Win98SE to any other version of windows I like many others will be limited to running PS ver. 7.
I wonder if Adobe and some other software companies have some sort of deal with Microsoft in an effort to try to get more people to upgrade their systems. A recent industry survey found that between 60% and 70% of windows users are still running ver. 95 or 98 and don’t plan to upgrade in the near future.
So I guess we will just have to keep our wallets closed and live with the consequences.

or stick with PS7 and use the RAW plugin available! It's not the best for Nikons RAW files, but neither are PS CS. Instead go for Nikon Capture 4.1. It's an awesome converter! Your images will be pinsharp, crips and vibrant.

I've both! I use Capture all the time for RAW files...!
