A bit tough there, eh Steve? I realize most of the people here can just pick up their toys and go home, but I can't quite do that. Nevertheless, I've gotten really quick with that ESC key.

It costs me. Many hours a day are spent here, creating and responding to people in the challenge forum, you being one of those people.

Barbara, if u have explorer you can permanently stop animations in this way :
  1. Select Menubar \ Tools\ Internet Options[/*]
  2. Click onthe Advanced Tag[/*]
  3. Atree full of toggles should appear now ![/*]
  4. Now, under the Multimedia Elements there's a "Reproduce Animations in Web Pages"[/*]
  5. Deselect it and Click Ok
[/*]
No animation will be displayed any more until you reselect that toggle.

P.S. : since I have an italian version of explorer I hope to have correctly translated item names.

For what its worth, I believe that is what NoFlash! toggles when you use it.

I don't miss the flash at all.

I may have noticed a bug with the emoticons.

I think some are confused. :-)

This seems to be a problem with the WowBB software. I visit another forum regularly using the same software and have noticed the same problem too.

While I like animated emoticons, there are way more than I would prefer. They are cool in some cases but there are others when a plain static emoticon will do.

About the old <grin> and such, come on.... we are way past the 2,400 bps and text-only online world. :-) Even slowish (by today's standards) 56 K dial-up is fast enough to handle these graphical emoticons.

But all this is a matter of personal taste.
