I have a Macintosh G3 souped up to a G4 with an installed 3rd party USB card. I just read a notice that stated that the Canon S1 IS will not download through such a card. I currently own a Canon S10 and that downloads fine. However, I have not been able to upgrade my OS to the latest Mac system (Panther) due to the lack of an Apple approved USB built in card.

Is the info correct that the Canon S1 IS will not work? Will I have similar problems with other new digicams such as the Olympus 770 or Panasonic FZ10, both of which I am considering? TIA.

Hi jrjr

Isn't this question academic? Shouldn't you just get a USB card reader and forget about connecting directly to the camera?

In other words - Who cares?

I agree with the card reader thing. Works great.

I'll assume you have something like a Beige G3 (now a G4) and Panther doesn't install on systems with add-on USB cards. Still the best solution is to use a card reader. Or do what I did and sell the old one and upgrade to a newer model. I love my 12" Powerbook G4
