I need help understanding the Histogram display, after shooting, on my Olympus C4000. Can anyone supply a link for this information?

Visit this site:

I have a C4000 myself and for awhile didn't understand histograms. Hope this gives a clear explanation of it.

Or you can check out this page:

Which also has a good writeup on understanding histograms.

Most image editing software will display a histogram. Some of the software that comes with cameras will display a histogram. But not the same histogram that was in the real time viewfinder view.

Often the histogram is different in the playback from the one in the viewfinder of cameras that display both a real time and playback histogram. Software generates its own histogram which doesn't necessarily match either histogram generated by cameras. So I guess the answer is no, the histogram isn't captured with the image and there is nothing that will display that exact histogram.
