Digital photographic novive desparately seeks a digital camera with minimal AF and shutter lag for approx £600.

I will be taking photographs of the following; Dance Shows, Sports Event and the usual holiday snaps and portraits

Has anyone any suggestions on which camera to buy.

Please help as my daughter has another show comming up and my faithful film SLR has met an untimely demise

One that caught my eye for shutter speed was the Ricoh Caplio GX. They claim the world's fastests shutter time. It's not available in the U.S., so there aren't any reviews on this site, but perhaps it might be worth putting on your list to check out further.

I have looked at that Ricoh site, and downloaded the brochure. This is a camera I would buy if it were available here (and of course if it actually lives up to the claims). My big selling point is the hot shoe flash mount.

Tje Contax SL300R T is said to be very fast....but the flash is poor so you would have to work out something with a slave unit?

I read alot of good about the nikon coolpix 3700 (fast, cheap, and compact)

if you want abetter zoom maybe the Kyocera M410 R is something for you? its also fast but less compact...

Good luck!
