I just bought a new Kodak 6490.I've had a Kodak DX 3500 for about 4 years. This 6490 is like driving a new cadiliac.I did a lot of research before buying and felt like this would fit my needs, any suggestions, pointers any helpful information would be appreciated.I've never used a camera where I could set anything manually.

I like taking landscape and animal picture(or just anything pictures)

You might try posting this in the Kodak forum too. You will probably find some folks there that have used that particular model.

Start here to learn some basics about digital cameras and the controls:

Also, read your manuals (some manufacturers have an extended reference manual on the CD in PDF format).

The best thing you can do is get lots of practice shooting, especially since taking a digital photo doesn't cost anything (except battery power).

With that camera, you DON'T NEED to use the manual controls...there's plenty of scene modes to get the novice started (portrait, landscape, closeup, etc.).
