Default Best Camera for $300

You can go to the Olympus web site and purchase a C3000 for $329. This is a refurb with a warranty from Olympus. The web link: https://emporium.olympus.com/innards...ub_category=22

This is a great camera for the money.

Default last years model

You might want to look for last years model of a more expensive camera, then check the reviews here to make sure the changes are mostly bel;ls and whistles. Often as soon as a new model comes in the previous one drops in price. One I looked at is the Olympus D-510 now under $200 ( go to www.pricegrabber.com )
Often the model # is a clue, just go the the next lower number

Default Camera Needs

Go to www.dealtime.com you look at all of the cameras for under $300. Vendors are posted with ratings from buyers. Hope this helps.

Default Canon S200 Elph

You should be able to get a Canon S200 camera on the internet for about 280 to 290 US. Its very small takes good pictures for 2 mega pixel. Not as good as a C3000 but its alot smaller. Has 2X optical zoom only.

You could also try Canon Powershot A40 or Minolta Dimage X. These cameras have 3x zoom, audio, and can be directly connected to a TV to view pictures. These come around US$300.

I bought my D510 in Feb. for $325 on Ebay and am very happy with it. It's now around $200! It also shows the pics on TV. Remember, if you take a lot of pics, you may want a battery charger and 1 or 2 sets of rechargeable batteries, as the digital cameras go through non-rechargeable batteries very quickly (Rayovacs at Walmart are the absolute cheapest, and they are among the best). So you have to factor those costs in-$30-$40. The D510 is nice for low light situations, because it has ISO 100, 200, and 400 settings. See if the others you are considering have this. Plus, it has a pop up flash and I rarely get red eye because of it. This is well worth having to get in the habit of pushing the flash down as I close the clamshell cover. You don't even think about it after the first two weeks. The clamshell cover is a durable one, which I prefer to the dinky slide-shut bifolds on some others. I have dropped mine to the ground from about 3 feet once and it didn't phase it. Hope this helps.
