I'm buying a film slr camera and plan on switching to digital once the D70 gets to around 400. My question is when I go to have my film developed, what resolution is the photos at when they put them on a photo cd?

hmm, thats a good question, it all depends on what resolution the scaners are they use, were are you planing on haveing them done?

by the time the d70 gets to 400, it will be discontinued, and not worth haveing, imho

Walmart or CVS might give you a Picture CD, not a Photo CD. There's a distinction, and a price difference too. A Picture CD will come back with 1500x1000 images, while a Photo CD will have 3072x2048 images (and cost more too). It depends where you go to, but if you have a Kodak Photo CD made, not just a scan job at a lab, the images will be dust/scratch free, very low compression and more or less color corrected. Some labs that you ask for a scan job will give you 3072x2048 images but with a lot of compression, no dust/scratch removal, maybe a color cast on the images, and save your images on the cheapest cd media they can find (the recording layer on the cd may start peeling off in a few months, no joke!).

As for the D70 costing $560 (I assume you mean in American dollars), IMHO it's gotta be a typo or a lie. Or Ebay. Either way that's too low a price for a D70, and even if it's corret, you can probably expect it to be used and forget about any warranty.

Your right I was was wrong on the price. Its $599USD. Check it out. I know there is another place around here somewhere with the same price. Its only a matter of time before the price drops another 50 to 100 dollars.

Buyer beware!

An unbelievable price, a Brooklyn address, restocking and cancelation fees, a free hotmail email address for business use, phone confirmation of orders, and a disclaimer that products may have a US warranty....

You might want to ask them what their charging for that neighborhood bridge!:roll:Search this forum or google for "camera scam brooklyn" and you should find enough information to change your mind about sending them your honestly earned cash.
