Hi, I hope I have the correct forum for this question.

I have a need to renumber or somehow easily identify a large number of pictures. I am imagining something like a batch process by selecting a group of pics and automatically numbering them in the order I have placed them, Can anyone advise please. My OS is Win XP pro.

http://www.exifer.friedemann.info/

Mainly for updating and changing the EXIF info but one of it's features is the ability to select a group of pictures and rename them using a pretty elaborate system. It allows you to use the time/date, stuff from the EXIF, a counter.

There is a freeware program that will rename using a batch process:

It is a wonderful program and the price is right.

Try CKRename from http://www.musicsucks.com/CKSoft/index.htm. It's freeware.

Good luck!
