Default getting started in sports photography

hi ya'll!!!...i've also got interests in sports photography...but it seems like going to a pro-sporting event you cannot get close enough to the action and not allowed to bring all your adequate equipment....is there any good place to practice taking sporting events?...say maybe highschool sports or so?...are they tight in security also?...i live in wa state
thanks

Middle school (7th and 8th grades) sports give you greater opportunity to get close to the action. You can also take pictures at youth sporting events. The action is slower and gives you the opportunity to develop techniques.

Before shooting any kids, I'd suggest talking to the school/coach/parents/... They are likely to wonder what you are doing, and might call the police.

Bill has an excellent point. I have always done sports for our church children's league and the parents know that I am suppose to be there.
