I have a 5MP DC, what is the difference between record a 5MP image and another at 3MP.....I mean, when I take a picture at 3MP, Am I using the whole 5MP and the built-in software resizes it to 3MP???is it the samewhether I resizethepictureon my PC?? Am I wrong or Ok?

I'm not sure that anyone other than the people who work at the company know. They probably resample the image, it is the easiest way to do it.

The interesting question is when do they resample it? Do they do it after they apply sharpening and contrast adjustments? Do they do it before? It is possible that they do something that you can't...

But the reality is that the difference is probably minimal.

You are probably asking because you wonder if you should just always take the picture at 5MP and then reduce it later if the high resolution doesn't matter. That is what I would do.

You are right, that is the purpose of my question....aftercomparing more than a couple of shots, I've concludedresample or resize imagesto 3MP on my PC is slighty better than let the camera do it by itself.....in terms of Noise Reduction (NR).....I believe by shrinking the image also the pixel size is compressed....so the Noise is less visible to the human eye....that's why I think, maybe Im wrong.....
