what is hot shoe and do i need it?

it's the opposite of those Clima-cool shoes made by addidas. :blah: nah, just kidding.

a hot-shoe is a slot where you attach an external flash. you'll find one in most (if not all) SLR type of cameras and some high-end compacts. there are also hot shoe adaptors on sale for cameras that don't have them.

do you need it? if you feel the need for an external flash, then you might need it.
