Default Looking for good Digicam around $650-$700 CAD

So far I have been looking at the Canon S40 (normally around $800 but I can get it cheaper through work. Nikon 4300 and the Minolta S404, we don't carry these where I work but they still can be found on ebay, brand new, for around what I want to spend. I would prefer to get a Nikon 995 or 4500 but they are too much, although I can find factory refurbished ones on EBAY for around what I want to spend, but I don't like that they only have a 90day warranty.

This will be my first digicam. Any suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Recommend looking at the Olympus c50z. It is a 5mp camera from Olympus and will fit in the palm of your hand. Price is $600 through local retailers. Check www.dealtime.com for web prices.

Looks like you prefer the smaller ones, but if you don't mind the moderate size, the Olympus C-4000 is the best all around camera for the price.

I found a brand new Nikon 995 at Black's website. Asking $750 CAD. Is this good or should I just save my money and get a Canon S40 from work for about $650 CAD. I saw some sample photos from a Minolta S404 and they weren't that impressive. The exact same picture taken with a Canon S30 was better, so the S404 is out.
I held the Nikon 4300 and didn't like the look or feel. Looks like its pretty much down to the Canon S40 or Nikon 995.

You have to allow for tax, batteries ($60 for 8), charger ($40), 128Mb card ($120) and a case ($20).

Welcome to digicams.

Why the S40???? A) why do you need 4MP??? B) It's ionly a 38-110mm lens .... essentially useless.

Go the Nikon 885 .. you can add lenses on ... or like i said ... the Fuji.
