Hello, shooting against direct sun light with my Nikon D70 produced a foto with an odd grid pattern that is visible in a big pink lens flare (see attachment). What is this? Does it have to do with the known issue about over-sharpening of the D70?
How exactly is this effect caused?
Would some filter prevent this?
Thanks for your help!
Phil

That looks like a problem in reproducing that intense pink flare, and the mosaic pattern on the sensor is showing. Perhaps it was an error in the processing of the raw data. Once I had something far worse come out from my D100, something that looked like one of those photo mosaics made up of thousands of other photos :-) It was like a one in a million kind of error I suppose, it never happened again since.
