Default spot metering help

okay im not exactly sure what spot metering is but my guess is that it focuses on the object more when there is a highly lit backround..but I dont get how to do it..can someone reccomend a good test to see how it works

Find a motive with high contrastconditions, then point the spot to the darkest (or lightest) area - shift to multisegment metering and shoot exactly the same way. That's it. See the difference.

Dont know if your camera can do this - you have to look in the manual.

select spotmetering in the menu - then find a dark thing aganst a light background. Take the pic.
Then
select multisegment metering ind the menu and shoot exact the same pic.

You should now be able to see the difference.

btw..the only option of spot metering on my camera is "on and off" i think it has Multi when its turned off and when turned on its spot..i think i saw something about matrix metering in steves review..check it out

IMO, each manufacture/brand have a particular way and name to call their product features.
To be sure of what means what, you have to check the spec/manual pf a particular camera. For example, not all manufacture/brand use the same weighting ratio applied to each zone of a “multi metering” system , and metering zones are differently arranged/allocated in each camera’s frame.
