Default can this hurt a camera?

when I was using spot metering..i aimed it at a very bright light..like a light bulb..and the all around it turned dark and then there was a small click in the lens and then the picture looks like the bright line and then a very thing line vertically going through it..can this hurt the camera?

Can you take pictures with the camera now. A light bulb should not be strong enough light to cause damage to the optics of the camera.

This happens with ccd's of this type. I wouldn't point it at the sun though!
