Here's one way...

Download and install IExif (it's free):

http://www.opanda.com/en/iexif/index.html

When viewing an image in IE, right click on it and you'll see an option to view the EXIF.

Select this option, then select the "Advanced Mode". If you scroll down the list of fields in the EXIF, you'll see one for total number of shutter actuations (Nikon includes this information in the D70's EXIF, and IExif's Advanced Mode can decode it).
