Default HTM pictures of the stars with Sony Mavica cam?

Hi y'all,

I have a Sony Mavica CD200 digicam and I was wondering how to make photos of stars. When I try, I only get all-black pictures. I heard from a friend I should try to set up a shutter time of 10 sec minimal to a couple of minutues.

At the S-setting, I can put the shutter time at 8" (I believe 8 sec.) but I can't find a way to increase this shutter time.

Is it possible to make picutes of the stars without buying further hardware for my Mavica digicam?

Thanks folks!

I believe the max shutter speed on your camera is 8s. It varies with the CCD and the algorithm used, but some Sony like the F717 does reach the 30s mark. Some other cameras such as the 5700 and the D7's use the same family of CCD as the Sony does also come with a B setting and in the 5700 can even reach 5 minutes in this setting! In this position the cameras actually take two pictures in their algorithm: 1 normally, and 1 with the shutter close to subtract out the noise!
