Default New Canon Powershot A40 computer connection trouble

Help can anyone tell me what to do I just purchased a Canon A40 last evening. I have spent 10 hours trying to transfer 2 photos from my camera to the computer. I have uninstalled reintalled everything by the book, by the internetI am in tears and discouraged. If I purchase a card reader will this be an answer or have I bought something I can never ever upload to my Dell Pentium 3 Windows 98 SE[/b]

Haramis,
I donít own a A40, so canít help you about that.
But for sure, a USB CF card reader/writer will allow you to download quickly and no hassle. Just plug your CF in and you see a removable drive , do what ever you want, move, copy, erase.
Windows 98 SE is OK, Sandisk and PNY readers work on mine without any problem . Anyway, a reader is handy to have, and it cost nearly nothing ( they give it free sometime when you buy a CF )

I have an A40. Great camera. Sadly, I can't offer advice on hooking the camera directly to a PC. I've never done it. I have only used a PCMCIA card reader on my note book. I don't even plan on installing the software that came with the camera on any computer.
