I need to ask a silly or stupid question. Can someone please tell me what the prefix Dscn as above in Nikon's numbering system mean. What do the letters stand for? I cannot find an explanation anywhere. Thanks.

Jim1957,

Thanks for answer. Where in the world might that show up in Nikon manual or web site or anyplace else? Why does it seem to be such a secret or is it just me? Thanks again.

I read it someplace, really don't remember were. I don't think it's so much a big secret as they just needed a prefix for file names. Like NEF = nikon electronic format.

My mind is full of useless trivia..
