JPEG 2000 lossless format

Are therecurrently any digcams that currently can shoot in this format?

I have noticed that PSP8 (and presumably 9) now have this format.

File extensions could, reportedly, be any of the following:

JP2

J2C

J2k

JPC

JPX

TIA for any responses

I have yet to hear of the 2000 format being lossless. True, it also not actually a JPEG format. Where is the information on it being lossless?

ACDSee 7 also supports JPEG2000.... having recently won a copy of the software in a photo contest I think I will give it a try as a nice space saving alternative for saving my bestphoto's once they are all edited/tweaked compared to using tiff which I used to use.

I bet it may be some time however till we see support for this formatin-camera. My understanding is alot more would be required than a firmware update in order for a camera to use this format. I hope it catches on as a higher then SHQ jpeg for quality, but uses less space than raw/tiff alternative would be great to have when your out and about.... lets just hope it doesn't require alot of processing power either so the incamera speed stays up there when processing/writing to the media card.

If we can put a man on the moon, then a dig cam can certainly be engineered to shoot in JPEG 2000 format.
