Default digital camera w/ flash hotshoe

I am looking for a camera w/ a hotshoe that is around $600-$650. Any good ideas (i am limited by a budget at work, but connecting an external flash is important). Thanks for any suggestions.

Some of the larger Canon cameras (G2, G3 and Pro90) have a hot shoe. The Pro90 is out of production, but you can find them if you snoop around. It has a wonderful 10X stabilized lens and is worth looking for.

Insteadof ahotshoe you might want to consider using a slave flash designed for digis. This might give you better results and cost less.
A slave flash has a photocell which responds to the camera flash and fires. This not only might let you use a cheaper system but would give you more flaxibility in lighting then a hot-shoe flash. Some digis have a preflash which sets the slave off prematurely, and so has to be corrected.
If you do a search on this board under "digital slave" you will gain a lot of info. Be sure in the search to check the button "search for all terms"
