Default child friendly cameras?

I want to buy my 10 year old nephew a digital camera for a Christmas gift. He is pretty active skiing, hiking etc. He is like most youngsters pretty computer wise. I need some suggestions as to a good camera he can grow with. Thanks.

You might look at this site

The most popular camera is thge Canon A40, which I myself bought as a learning tool. My 13 yr old daughter has no trouble with it . what is nice is there is pleanty of room "to grow" many adjustments if and when you want to use them.
Then do search on www.pricegrabber.com for the camera you want. The A40 is probably about $250 (look at B and H there).
A better price is the Fuji finepix 2650, at about $170 but is much more limited.
You can look at Steves reviews above for these and perhaps others from imagining resouce.
He is lucky to have a thoughtful unk.

The olympus D150, 1.3 mp, 3X optical zoom cost $125 and is reconditioned. Would be a great little camera.

Does Pentax make point and shoot digital cameras? I alsways thought their weatherproof 35mm P&S cameras were pretty cool. I wonder if they could make a digital version.
