Default LCD stick on protectors for digital cameras

I have a coolpix 2500 and from the reviews I have read the LCD is prone to getting scratched. I can buy protectors that come in sizes 1.5" 1.8" 2" and etc. Does anyone know if it is wise to put these on that camera? Would it void the Nikon warrantee? Or reduce the brightness of the display.
I would hate to stick one on and find I may have to tear it off someday and distroy the display.
Thanks for any information you may have.
Bill

I just ordered a set for my Finepix 3800. According to the documentation. The protector does not interfer with the operation of the LCD (brightness) and there is no residue when the cover is removed. I should have them by tomorrow. I'll let you know how the protector turns out...

Thanks for the information, BTW I think it was either Staples or Office-Max that has them for $10, I forgot which store it was.
The only problem with them is the package only has ONE 1.5" and ONE 1.8" or 2" sizes and two other larger ones.
Of course paying $10 for the one 1.5" size and not being able to use the other sizes in the package seems wastfull. But if you have several cameras that have more than one size, you can use the other sizes also.
But If you have three or four cameras that all have the same size LCD's.....Well it can cost you.

We use such things on PDAs (things like Palms and PocketPCs), and they work very well in protecting the screen (especially since PDA users are always using a stylus on the display). No problems, and they cling to the screen so you don't have to worry about it getting stuck permanently.
