Hi, I already suggested this could be a useful feature, but I don't know of any cams doing it. You'd need a keypad of sorts. The best I've found so far, is to use something like ACDsee in post after shooting as it is really an album/browsing/filing issue.

My cam has sound recording, so you can make voice notes, up to about 30 seconds on location.

Haven't seen that feature since the Nikon Coolpix 300:

Mine has sound recording and that works great for things you want to note.

Unless you use a Palm with the Kodak Palmpix. Or, just use a separate PDA to make notes you've taken with your good camera.

It will be really nice with future convergence devices like the Symbian based Sony-Ericsson P800 which is a phone, PDA, and camera in one:

Can't believe a 'combo box' - sorry, 'convergence product', would include a fully featured digicam. How are members finding the new 'phone cams' or is it cam-phones?

These things can't compare to a high-end camera (the PalmPix was 640x480 with 2x digital zoom). But it's great for someone with a job who has to take pics and make notes, and then send them right away. The P800 isn't in North America yet (although already played with the OS).

What are your weight and power limitations? Likely a laptop or tablet PC tethered to the camera would serve your purposed if it is being used pretty much stationary or from a vehicle.

How complete a set of notes do you need? If they are fairly brief, you could just write them on paper and take a photo of that.

As noted by others, Voice annotation and later transcription into the EXIF data is likely to be the most portable solution.

Voice annotation might be a better solution as someone pointed out. The Toshiba PDR-T30 allows you to actually write on the LCD (I guess you could take your picture, save it, then take a dummy picture and annotate on that???):

Optical zoom is, however, only 2x.

Steve did a detailed review here:

and you can check out my fact sheet here:

The Nikon D100 base/battery pack add-on unit has a voice recording feature, so you can dictate your notes to the camera. But this camera is high end, and expensive.
