Default Saving Pictures as in an Album...

I just bought the Fuji 3800, and so far am satified with the camera, my question is I want to save my Photo's in order taken like my Kodak DC-290, each time I delete the picture's off the xD - Picture card, the next set of Pictures starts at 0001, so when I save them to my Fuji file on the computer it wants to over write the other's that start with 0001, Been in the menu, but can't seem to find how to set it to start from 0001 and end up 9999 or bigger album??? It shows in the manual on page 72/73 But I can't seem to bring up this screen and help is appreciated... TNX!!!

I should be some setting like " file/picture number memory " ( as in my D7i ).
For the mean time, each time you delete pics, just leave the last pic taken so the camera can continue numbering ...

Have a look at ACDSee or FinePix's rename feature. You can replace the text starting the filename to something meaningful (e.g same as a chosen folder name) and then sequentially re-number. That way your 'album' can contain a list of folders representing events. If you ever wish to view in order of date shot, Windows can do this by sorting on the file date.

You can either do what you're doing with the cards, or make sure you upload to an empty or temp folder, re-name and move to your album folders. I allways check the renamed/moved files can be read as thumbnails in the viewer before deleting off the card.

Renaming does not change the quality of your original files.

Thanks for the comments, That's what I've done, except it's just a chore when you have a 100 picture's to re-label, but I will try, to leave the last picture on the disk and see if that will keep me on track till I find a better way or find out how to set the camera up to record and keep in memory, of what has been taken, as I have over 8000 pictures on my Kodak DC-290's memory and I can change to a different album if I need to... Many Thanks for the comments and have a Happy New Year..
