first i'll try the driver update recommended by gibsonpd3620.

i wouldn't want to play around with bios and digicam software updates without trying out the more easier solutions.

unfortunately i cannot upgrade to dimage viewer utility version 2.1 as i don't have the full 2.0 version. only available for cash.

problem partially solved: if i type in \E: to the address bar of the windows explorer, and create a shortcut to that drive, win2000 does see the card. who knows what this is, i will contact someone with more knowledge on win2000.
