Default ubs port problem

Hi

I want to connect my Dimage7 to my PC (Win2000) via USB. Though the PC recognizes the new hardware as Minolta Dimage, I cannot find the new driver within the My Computer folder.

any ideas?

thanks

Have you downloaded the newest drivers from the Minolta web site?

sarlosb,
Couple of bits of info you may already know.
1. USB port #1 closest to side of computer should be reserved for printer.
2. Come out of USB port #2 with powered hub, 7 port with beefy ac adapter.
3. once a device is set up in port do not unplug and try to install different device. things get screwy. I color code device cable and port. Why? It works.
I have seen people make a day of trying to install device in port already set up. fresh port for fresh device and life is easy,

normally winME, 2000 and XP do not require drivers, should show up in my computer as removeable strorage with drive letter.

I know that. That's exactly what it doesn't do. This last but most important step in the chain. Showing itself as a removable drive. It's as if you had a floppy drive in your PC, you put in a floppy, it's working, but when you click to find your drives or folders (My Computer), you won't see the floppy, nor its content (obviously).

I looked on the web and new usb drivers are included in viewer update. The viewer update is dated 10/10/02. There is also a firmware update. Go to this link:

http://www.minoltausa.com/eprise/mai...ucts?cname=dig

You may want to call Minolta tech support for more assistance.

Also check your motherboard for BIOS updates, This sounds more like a USB Plug & Play Issue. If you can plug a device such as a scanner into a usb port and it's recognised that's a start. Only try one USB device connected to one port.

If you uninstall your cam software, and re-boot with the cam connected and switched on, Windows should be searching for something. If it's not, then you're back to getting your pc USB to work first. From memory, your pc OS should discover your cam and put a removable drive in My Computer without installing the software, if it doesn't it will ask for it.

You might be hopefully optimistic to expect Minolta to sort this out, there are hundreds of motherboard/BIOS/OS and pc system configs out there and you've got one of them!
