I believe the older HP cameras beamed the pictures already to their PhotoSmart printers through IR... but IRDA is so passe! It's going to be both Blue tooth and 802.11 (you'll want the next technologies to go through walls or indoor/outdoor) both formats are aware of the 'listening in' and will have to deal with it just like cell or digital cordless phones...

You probably don't know this but I'm secretary of a handheld user group...we deal with all these issues, and we were talking about Bluetooth before most of the companies now using it even heard about it.

Agree... All RF signal can be intercepted but spread-spectrum frequency-hopping make it slighly harder, and also the limited range of Bluetooth also makes it the more difficult and only ideal for short-hop... 802.11 also have the same security issue (albeit they are used to deal with this by now), but we can't stop progress can we?

At the sale price that theses wireless gears are going right now even the kitchen sink will soon be networked:

If a person is paranoid enough he should at least encode the file (or picture) before sending, like some dSLRs that can already password protected their jpegs... Is there a profile define for digicam yet with Bluetooth (Serial or Object Push Profile)?
