Dear Impatient;

I use: handkerchief, lens cloth, shirt tail, Kleenex, or whatever else is handy. I would not use : rock, wire brush (too coarse), Dremel tool, or sandblaster.

I have camera lenses that are 35 years old which are still perfect. Coated glass lenses are pretty hard.
