http://www.robgalbraith.com/diginews..._07_macpc.html

I was considering buying a Power Mac, even waited for Macworld, but no improvement to the Power Mac lineup? I guess I won't be able to leave wintel for a while longer... seems somebody was asleep since last year, and it wasn't me  Where are the faster G4's? What about G5? Oh well... >>>end rant :?

Wait a few weeks until they clear their pipeline and I think you will see new PM.I have a single 867 I've had for a little
over a year now and I love it.I can do still & video and burn
my own DVD disks. With their updates yesterday to iPhoto,
iMovie,iDVD and iTunes, everything will be completely seamless.I can't wait till Jan.25th.Thats when they will be released.
I am not a Pro at this stuff, but everybody thinks I am.Apple just makes it to easy to do this stuff. You know its easy when even a Dunce like me can make great digital pictures and movies.
When I see all these problems others are having I know I made good choices. It makes Digital so much more enjoyable.I wish everyone was having the fun I'm having.

I'll wait until the end of January, early February to make a decision. Apple better come out with a sizeable step-up in performance and with some price cuts, the dual processing Dell and Alienware workstations are starting to look interesting The Dell looks specially tempting since it's got built-in Ultra320 SCSI (w/ RAID 0), 2 Firewire AND 6 USB 2 ports. Very tempting!

Isn't RAID 0 an oxymoron? It doesn't have the first part of Redundant Arry of Inexpensive Drives.

Disappointed? Not me...

1. 17' Powerbook with super drive with built in bluetooth & 802.11g,53mbp & backwards compatable with 802.11b
2. 12' Powerbook with special order super drive available
3. Safari browser=fast but still beta
4. iPhoto,iMovie,iDVD,iTunes all updated
5. (new)Keynote presentation software
6. (New)Final Cut Pro Express
7. (new) 800mbp FireWire on new Powerbooks & soon new PM

I guess you can only be disappointed if your not a Mac user.
You can't please everybody.

I know, RAID 0 is not redundant at all, you lose one drive you lose the data from both :P In this case I guess it would be Stripped Array of Expensive Drives

EasyRay, I was excited to hear about the Firewire 2 implementation, as well as the new Airport Extreme. I put off buying the Airport card for my iBook because when I got it the 802.11g standard was just around the corner. And they dropped the price on the base station too!

Not sure about the power macs.Rumors say the end of Jan. or sometime in Feb.
The rumor sites had everthing wrong this time except the browser and firewire 2.Firewire is going to be awsome when it gets to 1600mbps.At least thats what its suppose to go to.
I use a portable firewire drive now to go with my iBook for extra storage.I even boot off it to run utilities and optimize
the HD on my iBook,or plug everything via firewire into my desk top.
Lots of rumors going around about when the new PM will be realeased and what the inards will be and you know how accurate those rumor sites are.
No crystal ball here.Just have to wait and see.
