Is it just me or is the camera dock craze getting out of hand. Was seriously considering the Kodak V550, but they don't have an optional wall charger. For travelling, I can't see the use of a dock. Also, the dock for that specific dock is rather large as compared to some.

Really don't get bothered by proprietary batteries, but enough with the docks. I always download pics with a card reader anyway. Plus w/a dock you have to charge each battery in the camera (a few rare exceptions Pentax, etc...).

Why make a subcompact that would travel well and then have to drag a dock along to charge the damn battery???

Enough ranting...

You don't need the dock to charge, you can plug directly into the camera.

Thanks, my mis-info. That's a little better. But, I do prefer charging outside the cam...

Compared with Casio z750, in which every I/O and charging has to thru the docking, the v550 is much more convenient already.

Yes, I still hope Kodak will release a standalone charger soon.
