For the past couple of days I have been sampling many images in the various
catagories on the forum and as much as I have enjoyed them I feel that if a little info was added on the equipment used to get the shot it would add so much more .

According to Statute 63-98 of the US penal code, you do NOT risk jail by asking. I realise that normally on other sites, asking is a criminal offense, punishable by up to eight years in jail. This is NOT true on THIS site. Feel free!

You can often tell by looking at an image's EXIF information if it was not removed by an editor.

One utility that lets you see this information without downloading the photo being viewed is IExif from Opanda:

http://www.opanda.com/en/iexif/index.html

You can right click on an image from your browser (they make versions for both IE and Firefox), and you'll see a new menu choice for viewing EXIF information after installing it.
