Default Video camera to CD

Is there a video camera from which the movie can be directly written/copied to a CD for viewing through a CD player. Will be grateful for expert advice. Thanks.

I'd very much doubt it. The cam and CD would be big, the power from batts to burn it would by very big, the storage capacity for playing big cam AVI files is limited and writeable dvd is becoming the emerging standard.

If you mean can movie files be copied from a cams own media and burned as a video CD in a pc then the answer is yes. Results are not as good on TV as a dv moviecam.

Tape is still the most suitable cost effective storage for moving video. Microdrives are interesting.

Thank you so much. I understand that from a digital camcorder it is possible to transfer to a computer and then copy to a CD. My question is about the non digital camcorder. As a CD can contain about 1 hour video, I was wondering if it would be possible to record about one hour and then transfer to a CD so that the tape in the camcorder could be used for further recording. Thanks.

The first step is you'll need a capture device on the computer to capture the analog video onto the PC...capture devices can be very cheap/poor to very expensive/broadcast quality. You then have encode the video to the right format for the CD.

Unlike digital video which is already in a digital format so you can just use firewire, but you still have to encode it to the right format for the CD (unless you save it as raw data, if your PC can play it in that format).
