I have a question about the CCD size of a digicam, which clearly matters as far as noise is concerned. One always reads of CCD sizes like 1/2.5 inch or 1/1.8 inch. What does this mean? Does this mean that the CCD size is 0.4 inch or is it 2.5 inch and why does one use fractions for CCD sizes.
