Default Reputable Vendors

Can anybody tell me anything about B&H Photo or Cameratopia.com, both out of New York?

Has anyone dealt with either of these vendors and if so how was your experience?

I plan on buying the Minolta D'image 7hi or the Nikon Coolpix 5700.

Are there other reputable vendors that you can reccommend that have competitive pricing online that I wont get into any "gray market" or other hassles with?

Any advice?

Thanks,
Destro

B&H is the most reputable and they sell both US and gray market. The difference is B&H also stands fully behind their 'import' model... They even have it in writing in their catalogs!

I've dealt with them both at the store, and on-line...

B&H is a very reputable and respected company. Always check out online stores unless you are familiar with the company already. I like http://www.bizrate.com/

Speaking of online merchants, has anyone here used buydig.com? It seems to get fair to good ratings and it is a member of the better business bureau. But since their prices are so low, i am wary. Can anyone tell me about past experiences with them?

I've purchased from buydig.com twice. Both times were great. They only sell US warranty items at a fair price and don't jerk you around trying to sell extras. I would highly reccommend them.

Just returned a lens to B&H that arrived damaged. Its the first time I've gotten something that was broken.I don't blame them and they are supposed to pay return postage and reship this week.I have every confidence they will,as I've always been pleased with them in the past.If they don't ...I'll definitely let you know.

I have been very pleased with B&H. When they say a product is in stock it IS NO FOOL'N in stock and does ship right that day.

I have never had any occasion to return anything to them, but I have no doubts that they will stand fully behind their return policy without any hassles.

I buy from them for many years. Also returned with no problems. Most of salesmen are very knowledgeable and I've never been pushed to buy any extras. Their communication style is... well, different, and sometimes requires getting used to.
