Default Problem with compatibility Canon A40 and Quicktime

I'm having a problem with ImageReady from the Canon Powershop A40 software on my Macintosh. There seems to be an compatibility issue, once the icon was replaced for photoshop, my disk first aid recognized a problem. Then the computer started slowing down and when quicktime is disabled it speeds up again. I tried every extension, it's only quicktime. I uninstalled all the software including epson perfection 2400 software thinking that might be the problem. Nothing happened, but I haven't uninstalled Image ready yet,

Anyone else have this problem?

Thank you. J.

Which version OS are you running? It doesn't appear to be OS X.
Could be a courupt preference file.
Drag QT preference to trash and restart.
Drag IR preference to trash and restart.
Do you have the latest versions of both programs?
Did you check the read me file for version compatibility?
It may be another program or version it won't play nice with.
Did disk first aid say the problem was fixed?
Is the icon that was replaced an alias?Create another.
Did you try a different extension set?
Use extension manager to turn on or off different sets or create one of your choosing.
I've ben using OS X for so long I forgot about a lot of this stuff.
Hope this gives you a handle on it.
Good Luck...

Default Quicktime

Mac OS 9.1, yes I know OSX doesn't have extensions.
I have the latest version of both programs.
I tried disabling extensions and using a different set, I am used to this happening so I am good about figuring out the problem usually.

I haven't tried deleting the preferences, the application with the changed icon is not an alias. Disk first aid has not fixed the problem yet, last time I did that it fixed it and destroyed most of the data, so I am reluctant to use it without knowing more.

I will let you know after I trash the preferences what happens.

I think you need to invest in a copy of DiskWarrior.Sounds like a directory problem. And back up,back up back up.
I usually run DiskWarrior first, and then TechTool Pro at least once a month.Disk Warrior has saved my butt more than once. Its a one trick pony but what it does, it does great.
Data can get corrupted on any machine.
You might have a corrupt installer or it just didn't put things in the right place.Good Luck...
