Dave,
There are many cameras with both PAL and NTSC output. My Minolta D7i has both, and many other makes/model as well.
Check the specs here:

I sent Dave an email, but I've just picked up he is referring to a DV cam. Possibly not a still cam with movie that he is asking about??

I've told him if he wants to put stills or short movies on a laptop, he can get VGA to TV converters that handle both TV standards.

Yes, sounds like aredici's talking about a camcorder. Of course if you get as far as getting the video into the computer and use an output deveice that can do both PAL and NTSC, you still need an NTSC VCR for the final output (or a multi-standard VCR).

aredici, this site is more dedicated to digital *still* cameras. Also, it's not polite to write in all caps...usually all caps is reserved for YELLING!

sorry, didn't mean to "yell" - i am just to lazy for grammar so i sually usa all caps. anyway, yes, i was refering to a video camera. and i was also trying to avoid buying other equipment. i saw a nice piece of equipment from canopus - their advc 100 is a nice ad/da converter. but what i really wanted was a dv recorder that with a switchable ntsc/pal output . you wouldn't think it would be that hard to build in, but maybe there is not much demand for it.

if anyone is interested in the ad/da converter it can be found here:
