Default "decisive moment" ???

In the 4 megapixel range - which camera has the shortest response time? I've tried a few in stores and I can count to three between depressing the shutter and getting the image. Or will I have to go up a level? I now use a Leica M6 and a full Nikon system - and could still use my lenses on the larger NOkon D100 - but I like the idea of tucking one of these small 4 mg cameras into my pocket. I have read enough reviews to scramble my brain - but few address response time. Thought about the speedy Panasonic LC5s but user reviews say the image quality is bad. ???

Any modern electronic camera (including film cameras with autofocus) has to take time to focus, and set exposure.

The time to take a picture can be reduced by pressing the shutter button halfway so the camera prefocuses, and then pressing it fully to take the picture.

Of course another way to cut down on time is to use manual focus, manual exposure, etc.
