Default What does "gray market" mean?

Next week i will be in Miami and I would like to buy a digital camera, a 7i or S602 (in my country there are only a few models and are so expensive)
I couldn't buy it on line because retailers don't deliver to a hotels.
Some people told me that Miiami downtown is not safe to buy a camera.
Which are the aspects to consider when buying a camera in this kind of places? Waht does it mean "gray market"?
Thank you for your advice

Gray market is a term meaning an item NOT intended by the manufacurer for sale in the country where it's being marketed. For example, a European model or Asian model being sold in the US.

The down side includes possible warranty issues and menus and documentation being in a language you don't understand.

Many manufacturers DO honor their warranies world-wide, but you should be sure this is the case before you make the purchase and that you'll be able to read the menus and documentation.

Henryp,
I tried your link, it is not spelled nor defined correctly according to webster at your site. Enough of this, time to go take some pics..

Main Entry: gray market
Function: noun
Date: 1946
: a market employing irregular but not illegal methods; especially : a market that legally circumvents authorized channels of distribution to sell goods at prices lower than those intended by the manufacturer
