i have a project to control a PaTZ camera (pan/tilt/zoom). i have it controlled through an ambilical cord but wish it to have it controlled IR.

looking for possible controllers, have found some clunky looking cheap tv remotes which i figure could be taught to learn commands but i wouyld much prefer a joystick controller to perform the more complex operations.

was thinking if a wireless game pad with analougue control would work?

maybe i am on the wrong forum but i have posted the same question to several other forums with no luck.

any idea chaps??

Depends what signal you used in your "ambilical cord" and what signal the wireless game pad use . If the game pad plugs in the PC Game port, you got 4 on/off signals, and 2 analogue signals (the 4 buttons and the 2 direction control) , if the game pad base plugs in the usb, then it may be useless for you (it will take too much effort to make another usb interface alone, ie without the pc)

===========================

another option is to use the wireless radio control on toy car , depends on model, you may get some on/off and proportionnal control signal (from the controled car electronics).
