Coolpix 990 or Coolpix 995?

I need to take some close-up photos of small camera parts. By close, I mean as close as possible for small springs and screws. I the size of the image file is not important for printing because the size of 4x5 is big enough. Getting in close is the hard part.

After researching the different digital cameras, I am thinking that the Nikon Coolpix 990 or Coolpix 995 would be the best choice.

What do you think? Are there any other digital cameras I should consider?

Kori

I'll stick with the 990 just because it uses CF and AA NiMh rechargeable, the two best combination! With the 995 Nikon added the microdrive capability, but then handicaped the camera with a puny proprietary battery. They also change the all metal shell in the 990 to 1/2 plastic in the 995! I believe the zoom got improved though...

Anyway a 3Mpixels camera will be in the $100 range within the next few months:
Quote:

Priced at $12.50 in 10,000-piece
quantities and packaged in an LCC-48,
the ICM-110T is pin compatible with IC
Media's 1.3- and 2-Mpixel sensors.
Joseph Jiang, vice president of sales and
marketing, said that 3-Mpixel cameras
containing the new image sensor should
be available at retail in the next quarter,
priced at around $100.
