Is it possible to connect the camera, in this case a Nikon Coolpix 4500, directly to my iMac or iBook computers? I would like to investigate the potential of using the larger screen to proof the studio photos I take of the small 3D work that I do and try to eliminate the shuffle back and forth with the compact flash card.

The only cameras that I know of that can do this have specific software written for that computer/OS to do it. Check on the Nikon web site or the CD that you got with the camera. See if they have software to do it.

I don't know if that camera can even do it at all, but it might.

There are certain cameras that are compatible with the image capture application included with Mac OS X. Depending on the model it's possible to use a web based interface to capture an image from the camera.*I'll see if i can dig out the details this evening for you.*
