Default Program to resize images while preserving EXIF info

Hello everyone

I'm looking for a program (possibly shareware) that will "mass-resize" a bunch of pictures while preserving the Camera's EXIF info. Any suggestions :?:

Thanks

How about freeware?

Head over to www.irfanview.com and check out Irfanview--the best freeware image editor/viewer. It will batch- (mass-) convert, rename, and edit pictures. It can preserve EXIF data. It can create contact sheets from your images. It can do lossless JPG rotation. It can make coffee in the morning and sing your favorite lullabies while you are falling asleep. Well, OK, not the last two, but really, IrfanView is a pretty amazing piece of software. And it's FREE!

... you can say that again. It even open several popular raw formats so if anyone run into a bind for converting raw/jpeg/tiff etc... you'll know where to look

But does it rename the file according to the EXIF data?

What EXIF data are you refering to? You manually enter the filename/directory... so you can assign a date(or location) if you want to. 8)

There are programs available that will read the EXIF data from the file and then rename the file according to the rules you setup, such as date/time of shot, etc...

Yes, programs like Exifer will rename according to data in the EXIF file, but I believe the original question was for a program which could mass "resize" while preserving the EXIF data. We have gone completely off track here. Exifer, doesn't resize files, etc., it's primarily concerned with EXIF information.

Still, Exifer is handy to check that after you've done the re-size in the package of your choice, it hasn't wiped your Exif data from the re-sized files. So unless anybody else comes up with something better in one package, the job can definitely be done in 2 stages, with the free software already mentioned.

Stage 1 copy and batch rename to chosen Exif data field, Stage 2 Batch re-size. Stage 3 - just check first time round you've still got Exif data.

Incidentally, Exifer will also add any EXIF data field burned on your image if you want.

Agreed, but the question didn't concern renaming the files using EXIF data, only preserving the EXIF data and resizing. IrfanView does that perfectly and is free...
