Default film size equivilance for 4 meg camerea ie. 35mm, 645, 4x5

So I just purchased my first digital camera; Canoin G3. Can anyone tell me what the film size equivilant is for a 4 meg camera? ie 35mm, 645, 4x5 etc.

None of the above? Probably even smaller than APS still... in the fractional of an inch! :lol: :lol: :lol:

The Canon G3 is in its own little category (well, pretty much every digicam). It's CCD size is .555 inches which is the numerical number used to compare it to other film formats such as 35mm, 4x5, etc. So, you're film format is .555 inch.......or so I've been told.

I have heard quite a few descriptions on how to compare film and digital technically. But as far as the eye is concerned: I have printed 3mp images at 16"X36" that from a couple of feet can compete with med format ones i have printed at the same size.
Unless you compare perfectly shot studio shots, the results of a 4mp cameraare very much on par with 35mm film.
