I'm considering getting a dSLR viewfinder adapter. Would like hear pros/cons from anyone who's used one.

Examples:

I have never used or seen the first one.
I would not buy one without trying one (and I doubt I'd buy one anyways.)

I own an Angle Finder C. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, let you look down instead of through.

The good side is that it saves my neck when shooting shore birds. I don't have to lay down when shooting, which can get very painful after awhile.

I dislike the extra magnification that it adds. A lot, actually. I find it makes it more difficult to frame the subject. On the other hand, it does make it easy to adjust the focus manually if you feel its a bit off (not front/back focused just not exactly where you want it.)

I also find it difficult to level the camera with it on. This is easy to solve, as you can get a bubble level that attaches to the hot-shoe. I have one, but seem to forget it when I need it.

Thanks for your feedback, Eric. Does this one look like it might be an improvement over the one you have?

That looks to be similar.

You loose the slight added magnification (which as I said above is both good and bad.)
And it turns left/right, just like the Canon.

If you like the extra magnification then you'll like the Canon more, if you don't, you might like this one more.

I don't know how well it is built or how good the optics are in that one. I can say that the Canon's is good. I don't remember thinking "this is cheaply build" nor "this is amazingly build".

It just works. Which, in the end, is what it should do.
