Default after my C730uz vs V2100, there is another contender..

And it is the PANASONIC DMC-FZ1!
What do you think about it?
It sounds very good.. 12X stabilized lenses..
Only 2.1mp tough.
No manual modes

So what do you think?
2100 (if i can get one), C-730 or DMC-FZ1??

If the C-730 would have an Af-illuminator and stabilized lenses, it woud be me choice....

I don't know a lot about this Panasonic, but I don't think I'd bother getting it purely for the reason that t has no automatic controls. I am beyond the needs a point 'n' shoot camera and I need a bit more for creativity. The fact that it is only 2MP wouldn't bother me too much, but that is because I don't print my images at large sizes.

If I were you, I'd be very tempted to wait a coule of months and get a Olympus C-750, depending on your budget and whether waiting is an option, otherwise it's really down to whether you want manual controls or not.

Ed

PS - Also note that the Panasonic runs off proprietary battery packs. 2 or 3 backup batteries will probably be expensive, and IMHO nothing can really beat the convienience and low running-costs of a camera that takes AA's.[/img]

yeah, i tought the same as you... no manual controls is a no-go.
And yes, the C-750 looks very promising.. specially for the ED lens..
i was told that one of the problems with the C730 is that the ccd is small and in sensibilities above 200 iso the camera gets too much noise, is that true?
And what street price do you think the c750 will have?
I was a about to buy a C730 with a 128mb card at $519 at buydig:

what do you think about what i've said?
Thanks a lot for the answers

The Canon Powershot Pro90 has the same 10X stabilized zoom lens as the Oly 2100UZ, 2.6 MP, hot shoe and full auto as well as manual and everything in between. It's out of production, but can be found if you look around.

Seems to me I read the C-750 was going to sell for $599, a hundred bucks cheaper than the C-730 when it was launched. Not positive, though.

hi!
it looks that i can get a decent 2100 refurb class A here. (529 dollars)
The ONLY thing that worries me is the SDS (sudden death sindrome)
I will try to not take pictures when the low battery advise is on the screen and things like that.. but.. what other measures must i have?
because i live in argentina, and if the camera stops working, i will lose the money.. and keep in mind that 1 dollar is 3 pesos here, and i earn 300 pesos a month.
