Can we add "TRANSPORTATION" to 'post your photos'..

"I'd say one for cars alone.. but we could this way include, cars, bikes, planes, boats, etc.

I like your VW. But, I'm not sure a separate forum is needed for photos of it. ;-)

But, if enough members want yet another forum, I'm sure Steve would consider it.

A place where people can post photographic mistakes?

As long as forums are being suggested, I'd add one for third party SLR lenses. Many of those can be mounted on more than one kind of camera. Not likely that a good lens on a Canon would be a bad one on a Minolta.

That's true Bill..

I can remember referring forum members looking for lenses to the Canon and Nikon Lens forums in the past for opinions on third party lenses, just because the DSLR they were using or interested in didn't have it's own lens forum (or enough of their brand's camera owners using the forum to find someone using a lens they're interested in).

On the other hand, there are differences between lenses when used on another model. For example, a feature may only be available in certain lens mounts (Sigma's HSM comes to mind, as does support for manufacturer specific distance information features. So, that could influence lens performance (for example, a lens that focuses fast on one model may not be so fast on another if it doesn't have something like HSM).

Also, someone usually asks a question like "what's a good lens for my xxxx camera" for certain conditions/budget/subjects, and that's going to vary between different camera brands (given the camera manufacturer's lens choices).

But, I think the pros would probably outweigh the cons, IF forum members would use them for discussing third party lenses, including Canon and Nikon owners that already have their own lens forum.

Would you consider a black and white photography forum?

I'm not considering anything... I'm just participating in the thread. ;-)

But, if enough users wanted a specific forum, I'm sure Steve would consider adding one (keeping resources in mind). From a mod perspective, the more forums there are, the more things we'll miss (no time to read all of the threads).

More forums can also be confusing to members (for example, figuring out what forum to post an image in, or to ask a question in).

IOW, it's Steve's call on new forums. We can make suggestions (with reasons why we think a new forum is a good idea or not), and I'm sure he'll consider them.

So how do we suggest a forum? Do we email Steve directly?
