Default 52mm or 55mm filter/lenses

Didn't know where to post, but this section is the most visited so posting here..

I'm ready to buy a couple of lenses and filters for my Fuji S602 now. My only concern is what size to choose - 52 or 55 mm.. I have to buy an adapter tube which is available in both sizes. However 52mm seems to be more useful.. or am I wrong? The original adapter tube for this camera is 55mm and costs about $40. I found a couple of 52mm tubes for free with purchase of filter kit. I'm a bit frustrated.. What should I buy? I'm also interested in telephoto lenses which are available in both sizes, but 52mm seem to be cheaper ones..

Thanks,
Ulik.

I'd suggest the larger size because that should reduce vignetting.

It's a valid question here as well...it's the same thing with Olympus, their original tube comes in 55mm, but the clone tubes come in 52, 46 & 37mm. For the Fuji you can get the original 55, and clones in 55, 52, & 43mm.

It all depends on what's available in your area for filters and converter lenses. A lot of people like the 52 because 55mm accessories are more expensive and rarer.

The smaller the tube you get, the more chance of vignetting. And with larger tubes, there's more chance of blocking the internal flash (if your camera has one).

Thanks a lot! I think 52mm will be fine. I found a lot of filters and lenses and they are much cheaper than 55mm.
